Enterprise Zone - Business Tax Credits

Businesses (which include farms and ranches) may be eligible for a variety of tax credits including capital investments, job training, hiring employees, research and development, and other credits based on the business location. The Enterprise Zone Income Tax Credit Guide from the Colorado Department of Revenue provides more details on the available incentives.

Parts of La Plata County are designated as Enterprise Zone.  Most of Archuleta, all of Dolores, Montezuma, and San Juan Counties are Enhanced Enterprise Zones, which provides businesses with additional incentives.

Check the map on the State’s EZ webpage to see if your business is located in an Enterprise Zone.

Pre-certify Annually

Pre-certify the business location to determine EZ eligibility, then certify any earned EZ tax credits to be claimed on a Colorado state tax return. Click here to access the State’s online portal. Register to create a user profile. Submitting information for pre-certification does not obligate a business to earn or use EZ tax credit(s), but must be pre-certified to claim them. Business addresses must be pre-certified annually for EZ eligibility.
